Transnistrian conflict to be discussed by PACE sub-committee

The Transistrian dispute will be the main focus at the first meeting of the sub-committee on conflict prevention through dialogue and reconciliation of the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from Parliament. Effort will be made to identify possibilities of making progress in the conflict settlement process, PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon said in a meeting with the head of the Moldovan parliamentary delegation to the PACE Liliana Palihovich, who has taken part in the spring session of the Assembly. “The subject of frozen conflicts is for me of European importance. I regard this subject as a priority during my tenure and the first official visit after my election as PACE President was paid to Moldova not accidentally,” said Jean-Claude Mignon. Liliana Palihovich stressed that Moldova counts on the personal support of the PACE President and the Council of Europe in general as this European forum promotes such fundamental values as the respect for the human rights and democracy. The PACE spring session has been held in Strasbourg on April 23-27.
