Romanian writer, historian and journalist Corneliu Filip issued his book “Transnistrian Case. History of a Frozen Conflict” that focuses on the developments in the Transnistrian region during the last few years. The volume includes documents and memories of the political personalities of the 1990s, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the launch of the book in Chisinau, Corneliu Filip said that he had multiple interviews with Moldovan political personalities in the 1990s. In several years, he went to Transnistria and discussed with people there. He incorporated in the book interviews he had with famous persons, memories of ex-Presidents Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi, stories of Transnistrians. “I tried to make a synthesis for the Romanian people, who do not know much about the Transnistrian conflict,” said the author. Oazu Nntoi, expert in the Transnistrian issues, said he likes the coherent manner in which Corneliu Filip developed the problem. “When we speak about the Transnistrian conflict, we avoid the essence of the dispute. The book reveals this essence and the roots of this historical problem as well as the mentality contrasts existing in Moldova, which were cynically used to provoke that conflict,” said the analyst. He also said that it is a good material for those who think critically and sincerely want Moldova to be a sovereign state and have a European future, as it provides enough information for finding a solution. Doctor of History Anatol Taranu said such syntheses that treat the Transnistrian issue from all the angles are very important. “A lot was written about the Transnistrian conflict, but most of the books are written from a specific viewpoint that is unfavorable for Moldova. This book is written from a neutral position by a person who tried to live himself those events,” he stated. Victor Juc, the head of the Interethnic Relations Division of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences’ Institute for European Integration and Political Sciences, said that the renewal of the scientific interest in this conflict is welcome as from scientific view this is a complex theme that is hard to explain,” he stated, adding this is a good book for researchers. The book “Transnistrian Case. History of a Frozen Conflict” was launched in Iasi as well. In Chisinau, it is available for 65 lei.
