The carriers working in the Transnistrian region announced that no people will travel gratis after May 1 if the local administration does not settle its debt of over US$1 million to the carriers for the concessions granted to some categories of passengers, IPN reports.
The Carriers Association demanded working out a debt paying schedule by April 25. According to the Transnistrian publication “Novyi reghion”, the debts to the carriers in the first months of this year rose by 1 million Transnistrian rubles or over 1.1 million lei.
The Association’s administration said the debts affected the work of the carriers, with some of the drivers remaining without salaries over the last two months as their superiors do not have money.
