Transnistrian businesses are informed about talks with EU, official

Not only the administration of the Transnistrian region is told about the stages of the talks on the Association Agreement with the EU. The businesses are also informed about this, said Gunnar Wiegand, director within the European External Action Service. “The conflict in the Transnistrian region is not one of the kind, but is relatively in the best situation. The people can communicate and travel, while the Transnistrian companies export products to the EU, benefiting from commercial preferences. We want these companies to benefit from the Association Agreement too. We make effort to inform not only the authorities, but also the businesses,” Gunnar Wiegand said in a news conference after the 14th round of talks held in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman, who is Moldova’s chief negotiator, said the cooperation with the Transnistrian officials in the negotiation process reduces only to the designation of a representative to the talks on the free trade area, at the invitation of Chisinau. “From the first rounds, Chisinau has shown openness and commitment to engage them in the European integration process that should bring advantages to the entire country and all the people,” she stated. After the 14th round of talks, the delegation of EU negotiators had a meeting with representatives of Moldovan businesses, including Transnistrian businessmen.
