Transnistrian authorities raise loan to pay pensions
The Transnistrian pension fund had to take out a bank loan in order to pay pensions in due time.
The financial and economic situation in the Transnistrian region remains tense. The collections to the budget are lower than projected, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent in Tiraspol reports.
The loan in the amount of 1.3 million rubles (1.429 million lei) was granted at a rate of interest of 9%, said the fund’s president Tamara Iudina.
On May 13, the Supreme Soviet in Tiraspol will examine amendments to the draft pension fund budget for 2009. At the plenary meeting on April 29, the president of the Transnistrian legislature Evgheni Shevchuk said that the authorities will make a concerted effort to pay the pensions in time.
