Transnistrian administration ignores constructions sector, opinion
Much of the investment in the sector of constructions in the Transnistrian region come from the organizations’ own resources and from loans. The number of constructions is dropping. In 2011, the amount of constructions was only 91% of the previous year’s level, the news agency Novy Region reported.
The director of the so-called committee of construction companies in the Transnistrian region Vladimir Nicoliuc stated that the amount of investments in fixed assets dropped sharply in January-June 2012 and were estimated at $49 million, which is only 56.3% of the investments made during the same period in 2011. Moreover, the number of workers in this field decreases yearly. Nicoliuc said that these signs ring an alarm about the economic development of the region.
On the other hand, owners of construction companies from the eastern districts of Moldova think that this situation was reached because of the lack of understanding from the Transnistrian administration, who didn’t consider constructions an important branch of the region’s economy.
“So far, there is no public service in the Transnistrian region to deal with problems in the field of construction and no program for the development of this sector”, declared Vladimir Nicoliuc.
Statistics show that between 2007 and 2011, 2365 apartments have been built on the left bank of the Nistru, or 243,500 sq. meters of houses, including 182,000 in urban areas and 61,500 in rural areas.
