Transnistria relaxes import rules
The de facto Transnistrian authorities have introduced relaxed rules for issuing import authorizations for goods of vegetal or animal origin, regardless of the country of production. The new rules which became effective last week aim to speed up customs proceedings for short-lived products and minimize costs for the businesses engaged in such transactions.
Julia Aninkova, head of the Transnistrian customs authority's finance department, has told Info-Prim Neo that prior to the introduction of the new rules, businesses were required to present in advance an import authorization to the customs checkpoint through which the goods were planned to be imported. This rule has been scrapped. Now businesses will only have to present veterinary authorizations to the customs authorities and notify them of the checkpoint intended to be used.
In the near future such import authorizations will be available online as well.
