The central bank of the Transnistrian region has issued four new circulation coins with the face value of 1, 3, 5 and 10 Transnistrian rubles. The coins are made of composite materials and have different forms and colors, the bank announced on its website.
The 1 ruble coin is round in form and yellow in color and depicts Count Aleksandr Suvorov, a Russian military commander notable for his achievements in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787–91.
The 3 ruble coin is green, has the form of a square with rounded corners and depicts the French architect François Sainte de Wollant, who designed a number of landmarks in the Transnistrian region as an engineer in the Russian army.
The 5 ruble coin is blue and is pentagonal in form, and illustrates Pyotr Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, a prominent Russian general of the 18th century.
The 10 ruble coin is red and hexagonal, and depicts Empress Catherine the Great of Russia.
The composite coins are translucent and have the advantage of being resistant to deformation.
