Transnistria and Gagauzia sign cooperation agreement

The Supreme Soviet of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic signed a cooperation agreement with the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. According to the sides, the document is designed to strengthen the neighborhood relations and to facilitate the exchange of experience in the legislative field. The document was signed by the chairmen of the two institutions, Aleksandr Sherba and Vladimir Kyssa, IPN reports.

“We hope the interparliamentary relations will improve the legislative basis of Gagauzia. We will learn things from Tiraspol, while the Transnistrian side will borrow something from our legislation,” stated the chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Vladimir Kyssa.

For his part, Aleksandr Sherba noted the extension of relations, including at interparliamentary level, will bring benefits to the Transnistrian and Gagauz people. “Together with our Gagauz brothers, we will work out integrationist mechanisms to ensure our economic cooperation with the Russian Federation. As regards the economic development, besides the parliamentary relations, we will also intensify cooperation between the executive authorities at municipal level,” he said.

Vladimir Kyssa invited Aleksandr Sherba to visit Gagauzia on the Day of Comrat Town.

The first cooperation agreement between the Supreme Soviet of Transnistria and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia was signed on March 29, 2012.
