A number of transnational activities aimed at the identification, protection, repatriation and reintegration of Moldovan children will be organized under a Memorandum of Understanding signed recently by the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, UNICEF Moldova and the Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des Hommes” in Moldova. The primary objective of the document is to consolidate the local organizations dealing with the protection of children by guaranteeing protection and assistance to the victim children or children exposed to negligence, abuse, abandonment, exploitation and traffic. It is planned to develop the mechanisms and step up the measures for combating parental negligence, abuse, abandonment, exploitation and traffic, especially in rural areas. At the same time, the partners agreed to create a committee of the partner sides that will engage representatives of the relevant institutions in identifying and protecting the children at risk. The memorandum was signed at a ceremony by the Minister of Social Protection, Family and Child Galina Balmos, UNICEF Representative in Moldova Ray Virgilio Torres and the delegate of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes” in Moldova Alfonso Gonzalez Jaggli.
