Fewer heavy trucks with agricultural production from Ukraine will circulate on Moldovan roads. In Dornesti, Suceava, there will be tests – and immediately after them exploitation – for the largest transshipment terminal for agricultural products in Europe, following an investment of €10 million, IPN reports, with reference to Forbes Romania.

It can be assumed that Moldovan farmers’ suspicions that the transit is made with irregularities affecting their legitimate interests will also be reduced. The new complex marks a new chapter in the efforts of the GRAMPET group of companies, the leader of private rail freight transport in Romania, to modernize and streamline the railway infrastructure in the region and to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Gruia Stoica, president of GRAMPET Group, said that “after the outbreak of the war, the railway operators within the GRAMPET Group contributed substantially to the smoothing of traffic and the reactivation of the main corridors on the North-South axis, ensuring the transport of more than 1.5 million tonness of goods in the relationship with Ukraine”.

With a maximum designed capacity of 3 million tons, the Dornești complex is equipped with a wagon loading station (128 m long) and an unloading station (120 m long), which allow simultaneous loading/unloading of 8 wagons. The facilities are similar to those of terminals in sea and river ports, which makes it possible to transport products without loss of quality and at full capacity, i.e. 500 tonnes per hour.

IPN notes that in the Republic of Moldova, the GRAMPET group is represented by “Eurorail Company”, which provides services for organizing railway transport on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, Romania, European, CIS and Baltic states and Asia.
