The delays in paying teachers’ salaries are due to the implementation of the new Treasury system, but the problem has been partially solved and all teachers will receive their salaries for December, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun stated in a program on RLIVE TV, IPN reports.

Dan Perciun noted that the payment started on January 20 and the salaries of all teachers will be transferred in the shortest period of time.

"Within the Ministry, the payment of salaries was also delayed until the date of 15. Each institution had to pass the registration process. Yes, it is an unpleasant situation, but today it will be solved in a proportion of 99%," explained the minister.

Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, at Monday's meeting of officials of the City Hall, announced that the teachers in Chisinau municipality have not yet received their salaries for December. Shortly afterward, the Ministry of Finance said that the State Treasury allocated 816.5 million lei for remunerating the teachers throughout the country and 215.5 million lei is intended for those in the capital city.

The issue of salaries began to be discussed in the public sphere in November, when the mayor of the capital city said that the Government did not transfer the necessary financial means to the municipality.

On January 1, 2025, public institutions switched to the Treasury online system, which generated delays in paying salaries to employees.
