Trainings for schoolchildren on swimming and fire safety rules

Specialists of the Civil Protection Service met today with students at Spiru Haret Lyceum in Chisinau ahead of the summer vacation to tell them about the hazards of swimming and setting fires, the Service's spokesperson Dorina Cruc has told Info-Prim Neo. Tomorrow the specialists will go to the sports-focused Lyceum no.2, followed by other educational establishments, where schoolchildren will be taught rules relating to safe swimming and fire protection. According to the specialists, to avoid fires children should not play with open fire and refrain from using domestic appliances in the absence of adults. Swimming is allowed only in suited pools and ponds, only during day-time, in known places and in the presence of adults. In 2009, more than 200 people drowned in Moldova, including 31 children; while fires killed 185 people, 6 of whom were children.
