Training programme on combating sexual exploitation of children will be launched in Moldova

Moldovan judiciary, law enforcement officers, the NGO sector and local public authorities will take part in a series of seminars on the fight against the sexual exploitation and abuse of children between January 14 and 18, Info-Prim Neo reports. Launched by the United Kingdom's Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre and the British Embassy Chisinau, the training programme aims to build the capacity of Moldovan state and public and NGO institutions in preventing and combating the atrocious phenomenon of child sexual exploitation and draws from the UK and world's best practice in tackling such crimes. According to the CEOP executive director Jim Gamble, the sexual abuse of children is a global phenomenon and concerted effort is needed at international level to tackle it in all the countries. British Ambassador to Moldova John Beyer voiced hope that this initiative will benefit the wide array of stakeholders working in the field of combating the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, whilst building a greater awareness of the nature and dangers of these horrendous crimes at the social and policy levels. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre is UK's dedicated specialist police agency focused on tackling the sexual abuse of children wherever and whenever it happens. In its activity, the Centre joins the efforts of the private sector, the Government, the police and civil society in preventing and combating all the forms of sexual exploitation of children.
