Training Center for law enforcement agencies to be built in Chisinau

The services provided by the police will be developed and improved at a Tainting Center intended for law enforcement agencies that will be constructed in Chisinau with support from the EU. Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan and EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola on April 18 visited the place where the center is to be erected during the next four years, IPN reports.

The training center will be a complex that will include all the necessary facilities such as teaching spaces, eatery, shooting range, grounds for tactical applications, accommodation block, etc.

Pirkka Tapiola said the fulfillment of commitments and exploitation of the training center will actively contribute to increasing the people’s confidence in the police. Also, the people will be offered a safe environment and high-quality services, which is actually the main goal of the police reform.

For his part, Alexandru Jizdan said the reform is mainly aimed at improving the services provided by the police for the people, at increasing confidence and reducing the intervention time when help is sought. “The given project promises significant changes given that it is permanently coordinated and supported by the strategic development partners,” stated the minister.

The financing agreement of the budget support program for the police reform was signed by the Government of Moldova and the EU in December 2016. The general objective is to assist Moldova in implementing an important part of the police development strategy for 2016-2020, while the EU funds will be disbursed depending on the results of the annual assessment of the implementation of the program.
