Romania and Moldova will set up a permanent body that will deal exclusively with the implementation of joint projects. In a news conference held in Iasi, Romanian President Traian Basescu said such a body is needed as the joint projects get lost in bureaucracy, at ministries, without being finished, IPN reports.
Traian Basescu said the idea appeared after it was established that some of the projects are not completed. An example is a €20 million project to modernize the Moldovan schools, financed by the Government of Romania.
“I must say that the responsibility shifts from government to government. If we ask in Bucharest, they will say the data from Chisinau hasn’t come. If we ask in Chisinau, they will answer that Bucharest hasn’t provided an answer yet,” the Romanian head of state said after a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti.
The Moldovan-Romanian body will consist of eight persons. Four will be named by the Government of Moldova, while the other four by the Government of Romania. “This body will make sure that the bureaucratic transfer of responsibility from one bank of the Prut to another will no longer be a reality,” stated Traian Basescu. According to him, this body will accelerate the implementation speed of projects.
