Romania is ready to provide 5,000 scholarships to Moldovans who want to study at Romanian universities, instead of the 2,100 offered at present. Romanian President Traian Basescu made the statement after a meeting held by the official delegations of Moldova and Romania at the Cotroceni Palace, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Bucharest report. In a private meeting, Mihai Ghimpu and Traian Basescu discussed the problems that will be solved in the near future. Ghimpu said the fact that the bilateral relations with Romania have improved is very important for the Moldovan people. “I'm convinced that the agreements we will sign will help solve many problems faced by the citizens of the two countries, including those related to the obtaining of nationality,” Moldova's Acting President said. Traian Basescu reiterated the promise to support Moldova, saying the agreements that are signed now will become official documents for the two states. “As a donor EU state, we'd better support Moldova than another country,” Basescu said. The Romanian head of state also said that one of the agreements that will be signed enables increasing the number of university scholarships for Moldovan people from 2,100 to 5,000. “The Romanian state is ready to support the Moldovan young people who want to continue their studies in Romania. Other agreements will be signed by autumn. They will contribute to the efficient development of the two states,” Traian Basescu said. Basescu stressed that the Romanian authorities will find a solution to cancel the obligation to prove that one has €500 when applying for a visa for Romania.
