Tragedies on roads up
1,668 car accidents have been recorded on Moldova's roads from the beginning of the year, claiming 259 lives, and injuring other 2,098 people, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Traffic Police, compared with the same period of the last year, the number of accidents rose 6 %, while the number of killed people went down 11.3%, as the number of traumatized people dropped 6.5%.
Pedestrians have been hit in the largest part of the accidents -- 549 (34.8% of the total). Vehicles collided in 480 cases (31.5%) as obstacles have been hit in 222 crashes (14.5%).
Most of the accidents happened because of drivers (1179.) According to the police, this is because of the low training level of drivers. According to statistics, this year, the beginner-drivers have accounted for 10.6% (125) of crashes.
94 driver training companies work in Moldova, and 26 of them have been withdrawn licenses after checkups.
