Traffic Police have not yet confirmed whether President’s car was involved in a road accident last week
The Traffic Police have not yet conformed whether the car of President Vladimir Voronin was involved in a road accident that happened last week. At Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, the Traffic Police Head Ion Vozian said that the car left the place of the accident and was not yet found so that they cannot say whether it was the car of the head of state.
Ion Vozian denied the accusations that the police tried to hush up the case. He said that the traffic patrols did everything according to rules and the place was cleaned only after gathering all the evidence needed to document the accident. The accident occurred at 21:50, but the “Motorsanitation” Division was contacted at 22:15 and asked to send a special vehicle to clean the scene, Vozian explained.
Three persons from the dispatcher’s office of the “Motorsanitation” Division, including the driver of the vehicle that swept the street after the accident, said that the Traffic Police called at 21:30 and not at 22:15. The information was recorded in the register of the dispatcher’s office.
Dorin Chirtoaca said that this case must be examined in transparent conditions so as to prevent much more serious cases. According to the mayor, another accident happened shortly after the given accident. It involved the car of the head of the Interior Ministry’s Public Order Division.
The Chisinau mass media last week reported that the car of President Vladimir Voronin was involved in an accident on October 17. One person was injured in the accident. According to eyewitnesses, the car crashed into another car, which afterward hit the third car.
