The traffic police division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting a special operation themed “The Motorcyclist” between May 4 and 10, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry. The operation is aimed at increasing responsibility of motorcyclists and inspecting and registering the motorcycles according to the law. Emphasis will be laid on the recording of such serious violations as drunk driving, non-observance of the speed regime and maneuver rules and on the identification of stolen motorcycles and persons suspected of stealing them. The 774 road accidents that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 101 deaths and 1,008 persons injured. About 5% of the total number of accidents involved, or were blamed on motorcyclists.
