Traffic on the Chișinău-Giurgiulești road near the municipality of Comrat is temporarily closed due to dense smoke and the danger of spreading fires that have engulfed nearby farmland, reports gagauzinfo.md.

According to a local correspondent, the fire spread over an area of several hectares. The fire got close to the road.

A liquefied gas storage station, several gas stations and a railway line are located near the fire.

The Police, the Carabinieri and two fire crews are battling the flames.

/UPDATE 17:36/ Emergency Inspectorate spokesperson Liliana Pușcașu said that 50 hectares of stubble burned at Bugeac, 10 hectares of vegetation burned at Congaz and another 20 hectares of stubble burned on the outskirts of Comrat. Rescuers and firefighters intervened in all instances. Authorities are establishing the circumstances of the fire.
