Traffic accidents claim six lives
Four young men and two minor girls died and another five young men had been seriously injured in the road accidents occurred this weekend in Chisinau.
According to the Traffic Police Division, on Saturday, at 6.30 pm, the spouses Angela and Gheorghe Budoianu aged 24 and 29 were involved in an accident on Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni route. The victim drove a “Dnepr 11” car at high speed and was under the influence of alcohol. Coming from the opposite direction he ran violently into a “Mercedes” car running on “Falesti-Chisinau” route. As a result of the impact the spouses died immediately.
On Sunday morning, a “Geely” car driven by Ion Botoc, aged 27, native of Slobozia-Varancau village, Soroca, lost control of car steering and ploughed violently into a tree near Volovita village. As a result the driver and a woman from the same village Aurelia Cecan, aged 28, died on the spot, while another three passengers aged 16, 23 and 27 suffered severe injures. The automobile was heading from Chisinau to Soroca.
Two 17-year-old minors, pupils of the vocational schools from Cupcini, Edinet lost their lives in an accident occurred on the same day. Cristina Bulimaga and Elena Svet went Sunday evening by a “BMW” car from Rascani to their native village Horodiste, Rascani. The car was driven by a 20-year-old young man that had no driving license and car registration papers. He lost the control of steering near Horodiste village. Coming from the opposite direction the car turned over. Both minors died on the spot, while the driver and another passenger aged 25 were hospitalized with multiple injuries.
As many as 299 dead persons and 2408 injured were reported in 2881 traffic accidents occurred since the beginning of this year.
