The traditional volley tournament In memoriam Pavel Potehin was organized in Chisinau this weekend. The president of the Volley Federation of the Republic of Moldova, Anatol Mocrac, communicated for Info-Prim Neo that Pavel Potehin was one of the best players of the Republic of Moldova national team. On September 8 2001 the bus in which the sportsmen were on the Ukrainian national road Kiev-Odessa had a traffic accident. Volley player Pavel Potehin, vice-president of the Sports Association of the Syndicates Nicolae Barbieru and an amateur sportive, employee of the financial guard, Andrei Telojer, have been instantly killed, and another 25 were seriously injured. The players were to take part in the CIS Spartachiada in Kiev. According to Anatol Mocrac, this edition of the tournament was attended by 4 teams – the State University from Moldova, in which Pavel Potehin played, the „Speranta” juniors team, the team of the National team veterans and the „Burevestnik” team from Tiraspol. The first place was taken by the SUM team, the II – the veterans, on third place - „Speranta” team and the IV place – by the Tiraspol volley players.
