Trade unions will submit list of demands to authorities on May 1

The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova will file a series of demands aimed at hastening the solving of the socioeconomic problems faced by the salary-earners to the authorities on May 1, when it is celebrated the International Workers’ Day, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Confederation. The trade unionists will demand taking measures to create decent work conditions for the salary-earners, to combat informal labor and illegal payment of salaries, adopting the Law on the Minimum Subsistence Level and increasing the minimum pay and pension up to the size of the minimum subsistence level, adopting a law on prices and working out a common pension system. “May 1 is not a holiday. It is a day when the working people, by different acts, try to sensitize the authorities to the problems confronting them, pleading for the observance of the fundamental labor rights,” said the Confederation’s chairman Oleg Budza. There will be staged a rally that will bring together about 15,000 people from all over the country. “It is important that our partners – the authorities and employers – be present so that they hear our messages and understand them better. This way, every side will be able to state their viewpoint on the measures that should be taken to improve the situation of salary-earners,” said Oleg Budza. The activities on May 1 will start with a cultural program involving national artists at 10am. The rally will begin at 11am. At the end of the meeting, there will be adopted a resolution that will be used to draft an action plan.
