The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM) signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian trade unions to protect the rights of the Moldovans working in Italy. Under the accord, steps will be taken to strengthen the dialogue for promoting and protecting employees.
CNSM chairman Oleg Budza has told IPN that the signing of the given document represents an important step in managing migration and is an instrument for protecting and promoting migrants’ rights in the countries of destination.
The Moldovans who legally migrate to Italy can become trade union members in this country and the Italian trade unions will defend their rights. The Moldovans forming part of the CNSM who want to go to Italy to work can ask for information about how they can protect their rights in this country from the Confederation.
A similar agreement was signed the same day by the trade unions of Italy and Ukraine. The signing of bilateral agreements forms part of the regional project “Effective Governance of Labour Migration and its Skill Dimensions” that is financed by the European Union and implemented by the International Organization for Migration, social partners and the governments of the partner countries.
