Trade unions ask Parliament for guarantees for people vaccinated against COVID-19

Trade unions call on Parliament to introduce guarantees for employees who are vaccinated against COVID-19. The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CNSM) has drafted and submitted to the Moldovan Parliament a proposal, expressed as a bill, to supplement the Labor Code in this regard. According to the CNSM, this can motivate employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and thus combat the effects of the pandemic.

According to a CNSM press release, the proposal aims to mandate employers to allow employees to report to medical institutions on the day of vaccination against COVID-19 without hindrance, while maintaining their average salary.

Additionally, the proposal seeks to grant employees who are vaccinated against COVID-19, on the basis of a written request, a paid day off for each dose of vaccine. Upon written request by the employee, these days may be added to annual leave.

According to CNSM, passing this proposal into law will improve the existing labor legislation, will motivate employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and thus combat the effects of the pandemic, and will ensure the occupational safety and health of employees.
