Trade unionists seek higher allowances for sanatorium treatment

Trade unionists demand that the costs for the sanatorium treatment of insured persons be increased, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova. According to Confederation’s expert on financial and socioeconomic matters Maria Kreminskaya, the salary earners pay monthly 6% of their salary and make other payments into the state insurance budget, but they are deprived of the right to receive sanatorium treatment as the employers must allocate at least 3.6 million lei state social insurance contributions for the purpose. Thus, the employees of micro and small companies cannot benefit from treatment at least once in 10 years. The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova has announced that a sum of 10 million lei was allocated in 2011 for the treatment of about 1,800 salary earners of the total 597,500. The trade unionists demand that additional relevant sources be identified so as to increase this year’s state social insurance budget by 25 million lei. They said the costs for the sanatorium treatment of insured persons in 2012 amount to 80 million lei.
