Trade figures in the Transnistrian region have been constantly decreasing and the administration in Tiraspol blames it on the situation in Ukraine, one of its leading trade partners.
According to reports from the Transnistrian region, external trade from the beginning of this year, excepting exports of electricity and of metal products manufactured by the Rybnitsa Metalworks, was down by 7% on the similar period last year.
The de facto customs authorities of the region said the trade of legal entities through the border with Ukraine decreased 9% from the beginning of the year, shrinking by as much as 30% in the case of non-legal entities.
Incomes from trade through the border with Ukraine reduced by 15%.
Instead, trade through the the region's western border grew by 68%, with imports skyrocketing by as much as 166%.
