Trade between Moldova and Ukraine in the first six months of this year rose by 11.07% compared with the corresponding period last year. According to the data for 2012 and the first half of 2013, Ukraine ranks third by the volume of exports to Moldova, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau, the National Statistics Service of Ukraine informed that the trade between the two counties in January – August came to over US$462 million. Ukraine’s exports to Moldova grew by over 16% on the same period last year, while imports from Moldova fell by 22%.
The main products exported by Ukraine to Moldova include the oil products, flour, cigarettes, coal and metal. Ukraine imports mainly wine, sunflower seeds, tobacco, ethylic alcohol and soybean.
According to the data for April 1, 2013, Moldova’s investments in Ukraine added up to US$34.5 million. These investments were directed mostly to industry, agriculture, construction, and sale of units of transport. Ukraine’s investments in Moldova totaled almost US$17 million, which was channeled to repair of cars and domestic appliances, wholesale and retail trade.
