Tourist signs set up on central boulevard and in historical center of Chisinau

Tourist signs to the main tourist attractions in Chisinau were placed on the central boulevard and on several other streets in the historical center of the capital city. The works were performed by the General Public Amenities Division as part of a project implemented with the Council of Europe’s support.

The Dvision’s head Ion Burdiumov has told IPN that 20 signs of the 23 planned have been set up so far.

The tourist signs will direct the visitors of the capital city to 71 tourist attractions, such as the Presidential Building, the Parliament Building, the Government Building, the City Hall, the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”, the Organ Hall, the Central Cemetery, museums and churches.

The information is presented in Romanian, Russian and English and also in the language of the respective country if it is about a facility related to the culture or tradition of another country.

“The signs will help foreign tourists to easier get to tourist attractions in the capital city,” stated Ion Burdiumov. He added that the rest of the tourist signs will be set up on November 12 and 13 and a launch ceremony will be held later.

The cost of the project is €24,500. The Council of Europe’s contribution is €13,500, while the municipality of Chisinau allocated €11,000.
