Tonnes of pesticides stored in Transnistrian region to be disposed of in Germany

The repacking and collection of about 600 tonnes of obsolete, unusable and banned pesticides located in the Transnistrian region will start next month. The subject was discussed by Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch and officials in charge of the project, IPN reports.

The minister wrote on Facebook that 12 places from where to collect this quantity of pesticides were identified. The pesticides will be later taken to Germany for being disposed of. The Environment Agency will be responsible for monitoring the process.

The measure forms part of the project “Removal and Safe Disposal of Unusable Pesticides in the Transnistrian Region of the Republic of Moldova Phase 2” that is implemented with support from the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
