Tomac says reduction in consular taxes for regaining Romanian nationality is his priority

Romanian MP Eugen Tomac, who won the elections in the college that includes Moldova on December 9, promised he will honor his electoral program, even if the party of which he forms part is in opposition, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference in Chisinau on December 12, Eugen Tomac said that among his major goals are to reduce the consular taxes for the documents needed to regain Romanian nationality and to promote a law on the protection of the Romanian language abroad. “The first initiative will be an approach for reducing the consular taxes so that the citizens do not pay extremely high fees for authenticating the documents required for regaining Romanian nationality,” said Tomac. Speaking about the large number of people who voted at the polling places established in Moldova on December 9, Eugen Tomac said that he is for increasing the number of MPs who will represent the Romanians from Bessarabia. Eugen Tomac polled about 82% of the votes cast by the almost 13,800 Romanians from Moldova. According to the election results in Romania, the Social Liberal Union, which is an opponent of the Liberal Democratic Party of which Tomac forms part, won about 60% of the vote.
