The block “Together”, which includes the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, the League of Cities and Communes Party and the Party of Change, requested the convening of the Government Commission for the Coordination of Preparedness Measures for the 2024-2025 heating season, namely to institute urgent measures in case of cessation of natural gas supplies to the left bank of the Nistru, IPN reports.
"If Putin orders Gazprom to stop gas supplies to Tiraspol from January 1, the Republic of Moldova must be prepared to import electricity from Romania, where prices are considerably higher. Also, the delivery of gas to the citizens on the left bank of the Nistru will have to be ensured with full payment at market price. We are aware of Moscow's intentions to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections," energy expert Sergiu Tofilat, deputy chairman of the Party of Change, said at a press conference.
Sergiu Tofilat, who is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz, asked to clarify the role of the suppliers Moldovagaz and Energocom in the gas procurement process and urged to launch a professional parliamentary inquiry to identify the causes that led to the current crisis. In his opinion, it is irresponsible to keep Vadim Ceban at the helm of Moldovagaz because he allegedly supports the Russian company’s position on the issue of gas debts.
"The citizens of the Republic of Moldova should not pay for the sabotage of Moldovagaz, the lack of supervisory capacity on the part of the NAER, the insufficient involvement of the minister of energy and the incompetence of the government. The Republic of Moldova as a state must compensate the citizen for the damage caused to them a result of the increase in gas charges,” said the representatives of "Together" bloc.
