The electoral period prior to the local general elections of November 5 begins today, August 7. The election campaign starts on October 6. The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved the calendar program for the organization and conduct of the November 5 elections, IPN reports.
The Commission’s decision on the setting of the date of local general elections takes effect today. In accordance with the Election Code, the electoral period lasts up to the day the election results are confirmed by the responsible bodies, but cannot be longer than 120 days.
During the electoral period, electoral district councils of the first level and electoral offices of polling stations are set up. The CEC agrees the model of ballots, forms and other documents referring to the holding of elections and the model of stamps used by the electoral bodies, including the technical parameters or standards for electoral equipment.
The election campaign that will start on October 6 will be carried out with the aim of persuading electors to vote for a particular election contender or to express a particular option in a referendum.
The calendar program for the organization and conduct of the November 5 elections is remitted to the local public authorities, political parties represented in Parliament, electoral bodies after these are formed and entities involved in the organization and conduct of elections for these to familiarize themselves with it and to implement it in accordance with their duties.
