OPEN LETTER
Honorable Members of the Diplomatic Missions Accredited in the Republic of Moldova and Representatives of International Organizations!
I have decided to present this open letter in order to inform you about an action of the highest importance initiated by the Republican Party Inima Moldovei – the organization of a referendum on neutrality, to be held alongside the 2025 parliamentary elections. This initiative arises from the major concern of the Republican Party Inima Moldovei – ensuring peace in the Republic of Moldova. We are strongly convinced that neutrality is the cornerstone that can ensure peace in our country. However, for this principle to be effective, it is essential that the people directly express their support for it.
The principle of neutrality is enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. However, more than 30 years have passed since the adoption of the Supreme Law, and some politicians, including high-ranking state officials, claim that this principle supposedly has lost its relevance and that the Republic of Moldova should renounce its status of neutrality and join a military alliance. Such statements and approaches are extremely dangerous and jeopardize peace in our country. Therefore, we consider the consultative referendum on neutrality as a way to bring these discussions to an end.
The referendum results will also allow us to initiate a series of actions aimed at securing broad international support and recognition of the Republic of Moldova's status as a neutral state. Such efforts would have no effect because they would lack the foundation of the clear will of the people of the Republic of Moldova.
The Republican Party Inima Moldovei has thoroughly studied examples of other neutral states and identified numerous advantages that the Republic of Moldova could also benefit from. We are firmly convinced that the reconfirmation of the neutrality status by the people will contribute to strengthening our society, represent an important step toward resolving the issue of territorial integrity, and create the necessary prerequisites for Moldova's harmonious development in the future.

We deemed it necessary to inform you about the essence of our initiative, as shortly after its announcement, we encountered numerous instances of disinformation. Some self-proclaimed analysts and opinion leaders, who do not conceal their political affiliations, quickly offered assessments that do not reflect reality. We have every reason to believe that public opinion is being deliberately misled. We find such an approach difficult to understand, as in a democratic state, it is impossible to oppose an initiative aimed at consulting citizens on an issue of paramount importance.
To counter disinformation and fake news, we will regularly provide accurate information regarding our future actions. Specifically, we will keep, honorable representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Moldova, and representatives of international organizations, well-informed.
We express our willingness and openness to engage in dialogue on all matters of mutual interest.
