The prices at the Chisinau School Supplies Fair show that parents need to spend at least MDL 1500 from the family budget to get a child ready for school. Considering the fact that most of the schools and lyceums introduced compulsory uniforms, parents will have to spend about 450 lei for a uniform. In addition, they need to spend 100 lei to buy a shirt and 300 lei to buy school shoes. The sports uniform, including a training suit and trainers, can be bought at the School Supplies Fair for about 450 lei. A school bag costs between 80 and 200 lei, and a set of stationery can be bought for about 200 lei. Besides these expenses, there is also the hiring of handbooks, which will reach 56 – 110 lei this school year. The School Supplies Fair is taking place between August 16 and September 2 in the Cathedral’s Park of the capital city.
