Tiraspol’s representative to talks accuses Chisinau of lack of political will

The lack of political will on the part of Chisinau affects the work of even the most successful working groups for building confidence between the banks of the Nistru, Transnistrian foreign minister Vladimir Yastrebchyak, who is Tiraspol’s representative at the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, said in a press briefing. Vladimir Yastrebchyak referred especially to the group of experts centering on railway transport, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the website of the Transnistrian news agency Olvia-Press. “The specialists in the field coordinated all the technical parameters. As far as I know, only the political decision of Moldova is needed. This shows that Chisinau does not really intend to reach a compromise with the Transnistrian side,” said the Transnistrian official. He also said that misunderstandings are also experienced in other areas where joint working groups operate. “Even if there are problems, they can be solved. In fact, the regulations governing the activity of the working groups were worked out with the aim of overcoming the misunderstandings. Unfortunately, Moldova gives no signals that it respects the positions formulated earlier and the agreements reached last November and December,” stressed the minister. Vladimir Yastrebchyak said the mediators and observers to the negotiation process will be informed about Tiraspol’s position on the activity of the confidence building working groups the next days. “The obstacles erected by Chisinau will be discussed in a meeting in the 5+2 format that will take place in Moscow on June 21,” he stated.
