The Transnistrian administration will request putting off the next round of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format until solutions to the problems faced by the Transnistrian economic entities are identified with the Moldovan authorities, IPN reports.
According to the Tiraspol news agency “Novostipmr”, the region’s administration is indignant at the changes made by the official Chisinau to the fiscal legislation, as regards the rise in excise duties on a number of products. The Transnistrian authorities describe these acts as an economic blockade.
In the February 7 meeting of the political representatives for the Transnistrian conflict settlement, it was agreed that a meeting of the working groups on economy will be held on February 18 or 19. They will try to identify solutions to the problems experienced by the businessmen from both banks of the Nistru River.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov does not consider it opportune to postpone the round of talks in the 5+2 format set to take place at the end of February as there is a mechanism by which they can reach compromises and take decisions.
