Tiraspol wants functional government in Chisinau
The authorities in Tiraspol want that the Moldovan government is functional, the Transnistrian foreign minister Vladimir Yastrebcheak was quoted by Novyi Reghion Agency as saying, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the minister, the Transnistrian authorities follow the events taking place in the Moldovan Parliament and consider several possible future developments.
Yastrebcheak said that the absence of a government institution in Chisinau affects the relations between Moldova and Transnistria and delays the solving of current problems faced by the region as the Moldovan authorities have not yet named representatives to work in the groups on experts.
The Transnistrian foreign minister expressed his hope that the new Moldovan government will take into account the agreements reached in Moscow by the presidents of Russia and Moldova and the Transnistrian leader in March this year. The three agreed to create conditions for a constructive dialogue and exert no pressure.
Yastrebcheak does not rule out that the meeting of mediators and guarantors in the Transnistrian dispute scheduled for September might be postponed owing to the situation in Chisinau. “The mediators and guarantors could hold consultations without the sides involved,” he said
Earlier this week, Vladimir Yastrebcheak had a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Philip Remler and discussed the political situation in Chisinau.
Previously, the EU Representative to Moldova Kalman Miszei said that the talks in the 5+2 format are set to be resumed on October 5. He stressed that the participants in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process want a stable government in Moldova.
