The men’s handball team of the Tiraspol University won a new title of champion. In the last match of the handball championship, the team trained by Alexei Covalciuc beat last season’s winner Olimpus-85 by 29-28, IPN reports.

The largest number of goals were scored by Alexandr Lupashko and Iaroslav Vytsehovschi.  “This season we met Olimpus three times and lost only once. We are glad that we scored a new victory and finished the competition four points ahead of our main rival,” the coach of the Tiraspol University team Alexei Covalciuc told a news conference.

Olimpus-85 won silver, while Riviera Chisinau came into possession of the bronze medal. Olimpus-85 player Maxim Shipulin became the top scorer of the championship.
