Tiraspol retains 30% of salary that covers only minimum subsistence level as well

The Transnistrian administration retains 30% of the salaries of all the budget-funded workers, including the pays that cover only the minimum subsistence level (1,300 Transnistrian rubles). The so-called minister of finance of Transnistria Elena Ghirjul has told a local TV channel that it’s not known when the salary arrears will be cleared, IPN reports.

The revenues collected into the region’s budget have halved. About 400 million rubles is needed monthly for paying social benefits. To deal with the deficit, a sum of 135 million rubles was attracted in February and the difference was covered with money that was actually earmarked for March. In such conditions, the Transnistrian administration cannot borrow money as it will be unable to pay it back.

It should be noted that no money has been allocated to the region’s hospitals for medicines and food so far this year.
