Moldova's delegation in the Joint Control Commission has petitioned for a permit that would allow a civilian helicopter to fly over the so-called Security Zone on October 3 for aerial filming.
The exact intended location is Mocra village in Ribnita district, the native village of Eugen Doga. The footage is needed for a documentary celebrating the famous composer's 80th birthday.
The request sparked a heated debate at the latest JCC meeting, leading Tiraspol to refuse.
The refusal came despite support from Russia's, Ukraine's and OSCE's delegations. The Moldovan delegation said in a press release that Tiraspol failed to provide a reasonable excuse, but hopes that the issue will be settled during the next JCC meeting on October 5.
