The de facto leader of the Transnistrian region Vadim Krasnoselski says he sees no alternative today to the 5+2 negotiations format and that Transnistria is open to dialog within all the existing platforms.
“This format works. Of course not always in a very effective and prompt manner, but it works. This is why I wouldn’t change or adjust anything”, Krasnoselski was quoted by the local media as saying.
He nevertheless admits that the 5+2 talks tend to be sporadic. “The penultimate meeting in this setting took place in the summer of 2016 in Berlin, and this year, only thanks to Transnistria’s initiative to settle some enduring issues and thanks to agreements reached with the Moldovan side – the opening of Bicioc/Gura-Bicului bridge, the apostillation of our education diplomas, the resolution of the Romanian schools issue and of the land and telecommunication disputes – was the Vienna meeting possible in November 2017 ”, stated Vadim Krasnoselski.
