Tiraspol intends to transform an entrance post to Bender municipality, which is situated in the Security Zone, into a multifunctional terminal. The Transnistrian side confirmed this in a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), IPN reports
Moldova’s delegation to the JCC issued a communiqué saying that Transnistria’s delegation promotes the idea of strengthening the military component in Bender by unilaterally introducing a military subunit. Tiraspol’s unilateral acts aimed at strengthening the infrastructure at the Transnistrian post run counter to the Accord of 1992 and the protocol decisions of the JCC and that leads to the worsening of the situation in Bender, which is an area with increased security regime.
In order to maintain stability, the Moldovan delegation proposed transforming the Russian peacekeepers’ post No. 10 on the Nistru River, between Bender and Tiraspol, into a trilateral one, as stipulated in the previous decisions of the JCC.
Moldova’s delegation also waned the JCC about the latest destabilizing actions of the representatives of Tiraspol in the region, including the ditches dug near Dorotskaya village of Dubasari district, saying the blocking of the exist of the military observers for collecting facts endangers the current peacekeeping mechanism and exacerbates the situation in the Security Zone.
As no consensus was reached on the mentioned subjects, the delegations agreed to continue the discussions in the next meeting.
