Tiraspol insists "1+1" meeting should be held in Bender

Tiraspol insists that the meeting of political representatives in the Transnistrian settlement process should be held on the territory of the Transnistrian region and calls on international mediators and observers to facilitate the return of the Chisinau authorities to the negotiating table, a statement issued by the so-called Tiraspol foreign ministry said.

"Under any pretext, the political representative of the Republic of Moldova initially refused the traditional, face-to-face format of the meeting, and finally disrupted the meeting, rejecting the proposal to hold it in the OSCE office in Bender," the statement issued by the Transnistrian administration said.

Tiraspol sees Chisinau's approach as an unwillingness to contribute to the resolution of the crisis and says it has informed all participants in the "5+2" negotiating format about the situation. Tiraspol accuses Chisinau of never intending to offer any support to the citizens of the Transnistrian region, neither before nor now.

The Political Bureau for Reintegration announced today that the meeting of political representatives in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations from Chisinau and Tiraspol is postponed. Chisinau, which proposed the date of January 17, announces that Tiraspol has blocked the meeting in "1+1" format. The meeting was due to agree on a mechanism for Chisinau to provide humanitarian aid to the region's inhabitants.
