In the first two months of this year, the boarding schools and children’s homes of the Transnistrian region haven’t received allocations for food and medicines. Therefore, it was decided to review the food rations. Also, the institutionalized children will not rest in camps this summer, IPN reports.
The Transnistrian press reported that a number of boarding schools and children’s homes will be closed in order to reduce the costs. In many of such institutions, the number of children is lower than the real capacity.
Now the boarding schools and children’s homes borrow food products from the suppliers and are provided with drugs from donations.
The Transnistrian region is confronted by a serious economic crisis. Only 70% of the size of the salaries and pensions are paid in the region.
