Tiraspol as of January 24 will prevent all the types of motor vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova, which are driven by citizens who reside in Moldova on a permanent basis and have Moldovan driver’s licenses, from crossing Transnistria’s border with Ukraine. The announcement was placed on the website of the de facto Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria, IPN reports.
According to the announcement, the measure will be valid until the restrictions imposed by Moldova on Transnistrian vehicles are lifted. The Transnistrian ministry said an official request on the issue was transmitted to Moldova’s representative in charge of political matters and to the international participants in the 5 + 2 format talks.
On January 10 this year, Moldova’s Border Police stopped implementing the temporary exception concerning the measures of control of motor vehicles from the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova. This way, the drivers who want to cross the state border must comply with the law on the registration of particular units of transport.
