Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and the Transnistrian leader Yevgheny Shevchuk signed a protocol of cooperation between the auto insurance companies of Chisinau and those of Tiraspol in a meeting in Tiraspol on April 10, IPN reports.
Under the accord, the insurance operators from both sides of the Nistru River will cooperate between them so that the drivers involved in accidents are able to get compensation regardless of the place where the insurance policy was issued. Chiril Gaburici and Yevgheny Shevchuk welcomed the reached compromise, saying the given solution is favorable for the people from both sides of the Nistru.
The decision was taken after Tiraspol on April 1 introduced mandatory vehicle insurance on the left bank of the Nistru. As a result, those driving vehicles registered on the right side of the river were to purchase a new vehicle insurance policy when they entered Transnistria. Chiril Gaburici and Yevgheny Shevchuk agreed that the decision will be implemented starting with April 14.
