Tiraspol and Chisinau look for solutions to resume rail freight transportation

Tiraspol and Chisinau are looking for solutions to restore the freight train routes via the Transnistrian segment. The subject was discussed in a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov and the official responsible for foreign affairs in the Transnistrian administration Nina Shtanski in Chisinau on March 28. The meeting was organized by the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We are trying to find technical solutions at customs level so as to resume the freight transportation by rail. We are sure that this will have a positive impact on the economic entities operating on both sides of the Nistru. They will be able to travel directly about 400 km, without bypassing certain sectors,” said Eugen Karpov. He also said that the main objective is to resume the rail freight transportation as soon as possible. A new round of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format will take place in Vienna in April.
