Tiraspol and Chisinau are ready to resume the discussions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, the Special Representative of the Serbian OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process, Ambassador Radojko Bogojević, said on the completion of three days of meetings in Chisinau and Tiraspol, IPN reports.
In a news conference on February 11, Ambassador Bogojević said the meetings of the Chief Negotiators and the Working Groups are essential to achieving results in the 5+2 format. “It is vital these get underway at the earliest opportunity,” he stated.
In his meetings, he highlighted the need for the continuation of the 5+2 talks in 2015, underscoring the importance of immediately launching the preparatory dialogue. The sides assured him that they are ready to restart the discussions in the “1+1” format when the new Cabinet is invested and the Chief Negotiator on behalf of Chisinau is named. The Working Groups are also to resume activity.
Radojko Bogojević said both of the sides enumerated the multiple problems that accumulated, noting that the task of the Negotiators is to identify solutions to them. The foreign partners are ready to support them.
The Chief Negotiators of the sides have not met since October 6, 2014, when the electoral process put Chisinau’s engagement at this level on hold, pending a new government.
